This mischievous boy, who has already appeared among our favorite heroes, who lived on the Kathult farm in Lönneberga, Småland, with his father Anton Svensson, mother Alma Svensson, and younger sister Ida, starts attending school. According to their maid Lina, Emil will only be given a place in heaven if they suddenly need help making lightning. In this story, Emil makes some crazy deals at the Bakhorva auction, catches twelve hundred crayfish, ends up in a center for the fight against alcoholism with his trained pig, accidentally locks his father in Trisse's cabin on the day of the Bible exam, and at the end of the story, he performs such a heroic act for the sake of his beloved friend that Lina and all the Lönnebergians change their minds.
